What is gelato? And why is it better than ice cream, you ask?

 


As the name suggests, ice cream contains cream and generally 10%-20% butter fat, making it relatively high in fat. Gelato, traditionally made with milk only, has a lower percentage of fat. Because of this, gelato flavours are more intense. Being churned at a slower rate and served at a slightly warmer temperature than ice cream, the texture is silky soft, denser and richer.
